Irish Dance without the Bling

If you Irish Step danced during the days of sponge-curlers, this workshop is for you...

This two-day intensive offers a vigorous leap into the beautiful art form of Irish Step Dance, without the sparkly dresses or the curly wigs. Whether you're new to Irish Step, but always wanted to try; or you hung up your shoes long ago once "over the hill" of competitive dancing (age 18 for most dancers!), this is the opportunity to experience the true craft, precision, technique, athleticism, power, and grace of Irish Step Dance. Classes will involve warm-ups, stretch and strengthening exercises, soft-shoe and hard-shoe across-the-floor work, and choreography, aka "steps."

Bring water, dress comfortably, ghillies and hard shoes not required, although preferred. Barefoot, ballet slippers, or jazz shoes okay for soft-shoe; and hard-soled shoes, tap or flamenco shoes acceptable for hard-shoe. Be prepared for a workout. Dance experience and physical fitness are a prerequisite.
