This 80-minute workshop will get you headed down the banjo trail first blazed by the legendary songwriter, activist, and folk icon Pete Seeger.
The material presented is extracted from his classic book and recording How to Play the 5-String Banjo. Beginners will learn about the parts of their banjo and how to tune it to C and open G tunings. They will learn the fingerings to the chords C, F, G, and D7 and be introduced to three different ways Seeger picked the strings to accompany any number of different kinds of songs.
The workshop will be taught by Mark Dvorak who has studied Seeger’s style in depth and toured with WeaverMania! for six years. Dvorak also performed with Seeger on several occasions.
It’s only $25 per person and those attending should bring a banjo that is in playable condition.
