Charlie Poole Ensemble

"They'll Come A Time" for you to play in an old-time band! Singer and banjo player Charlie Poole is a legendary figure from the 'Golden Age' of country music. Between 1925 and 1930, Poole and his band, the North Carolina Ramblers, recorded songs like “Don't Let Your Deal Go Down Blues,” “If The River Was Whiskey,” “They'll Come A Time,” and “White House Blues.” His distinctive singing and three-finger picking style on the banjo was supported by top-notch fiddle and guitar playing, showing fans and fellow musicians what an old-time string band could be.

This ensemble will learn and play repertoire from those recordings, with loving attention paid to what gave the North Carolina Ramblers their incredible sound.
