Get started with your squeezebox studies! Accordion 1 is a basic introduction to get you started learning the instrument. Using an easy-to-follow method book, we'll cover the fundamentals of the accordion, including: how all the buttons work; how to play major chords; basic 3/4 and 4/4 rhythm patterns; as well as "I-V," "I-V-IV," and "I-II-V," chord progressions. Along the way, you'll also learn to read standard music notation in both treble and bass clefs. Accordion 1 gives players a taste of what lies ahead in private lessons and later on in the intermediate Accordion 2 class.
Bring your own accordion, a pencil, -- and a recording device if you'd like -- and you're ready to go.
The Old Town School Music Store has a limited amount of accordions for rent. Stop in or call 773.751.3398 to reserve one.
