Accordion 2 is for intermediate players and up who want to grow their repertoire. Each week, we’ll use lead sheets to learn 1-2 new songs from a variety of genres, including traditional accordion favorites, pop and rock tunes, folk songs, standards, and more. Along the way, students will pick up new skills, such as creating lead sheets from standard piano music, how to create your own practice routine, and some simple (and not-so-simple!) left-hand bass-and-chord patterns.
Students should be comfortable reading notation in treble and bass clef and be able to play songs with common chord progressions using I, V, IV, ii and vi chords.
Bring a pencil and recording device to class.
The Old Town School Music Store has a limited amount of accordions for rent. Stop in or call 773.751.3398 to reserve one.
