Teachers at the Old Town School

Nicholas Ugo

Percussion, School Partnerships

Nicholas Ugo is an outreach percussion instructor with the Old Town School of Folk Music. Throughout his 25+ years as a drummer and percussionist, he has and continues to perform with numerous Jazz, Blues, R&B, and Rock ensembles in Chicago. Nicholas' outgoing nature made performance opportunities, very welcome experiences. From being a part of the "wedding band" in the show "Tony & Tina's Wedding," to playing large stages like the House of Blues with locally-famed acts, Nicholas is no stranger to crowds, and so the transition to teaching was a natural next step. He studied at Columbia College Chicago with a focus in Jazz Performance, and is currently entering his 17th season in residency as a musical accompanist at The Lincolnshire Academy of Dance.
