The founder, artistic director and pianist of The Chicago Ensemble, a professional chamber music group which has been performing for over 40 years, Gerald Rizzer brings many years' experience to his teaching. His piano teaching reflects his extensive knowledge of theory, his experience as a composer and his many years in ensemble playing. Mr. Rizzer taught music appreciation classes at De Paul for 30 years. For many years, he was a member of a music theater writing workshop with productions of his musicals. Mr. Rizzer initiated and directed a summer chamber music program for teens and year-round classes in ensemble and in music theory for students 11-18 as well as for adults.

Education: B.A. in Music, University of Chicago (Phi Beta Kappa) ; M.A. in Music Yale University (Charles Ditson Fellowship winner); Juilliard School of Music; 40+ years of favorable reviews of concerts presented by The Chicago Ensemble
