Wiggleworms and Kids’ Music Program Manager, Double Play for Preschoolers
Upon graduation from Northwestern University in Theater Arts, Erin began performing and teaching with Redmoon Theater where she helped found the acclaimed Dramagirls program, an after-school theater arts program to empower middle school girls. While in New York, working in the Education Department of The Childrens Museum of Manhattan, Erin coordinated the birthday party program, taught early childhood music and art classes, and directed theater pieces for young audiences. In Philadelphia, as the Theater Coordinator at Please Touch Museum, Erin designed and coordinated arts programming in accordance with The Pennsylvania Standards for Arts Education. When parents from a progressive education nursery school saw her leading a music workshop at the museum, they invited her to teach at the school; she soon became a classroom teacher and director at the school; and earned a teaching certificate and masters degree in Early Childhood Education from Chestnut Hill College. She taught at the preschool for 5 years. Returning to Chicago in 2004, Erin again became a performer and teaching artist with Redmoon Theater. Additionally she joined the Old Town School of Folk Music family as a Wiggleworms teacher. Living in the Lawndale community for five years, Erin eagerly became a teaching artist in the Wiggleworms in Residence Program at Carole Robertson Center for Learning. She taught in the program from February 2007 through June 2008. Erin is currently the Wiggleworms and Kids’ Music Program Manager at the Old Town School of Folk Music. She holds an Illinois teaching certificate in Early Childhood and Level I and II Kodály Certification from DePaul University. She sings on the Wiggleworms Love You CD; the Old Town School of Folk Music Songbook CD, vols. 1 and 3; and her own CD, Dreamers of Dreams. She writes songs for her own family music project, Animal Singdom and puppeteers and creates content for the web series How Do We Sing?
