Steve Dawson has taught his innovative songwriting classes at the Old Town School of Folk Music for more than a decade, and longtime cultural journalist Mark Caro enjoyed several of those classes. When the two of them decided they'd like to collaborate on showcasing the best assignments while digging deep into the creative process, the result became Take It to the Bridge: Unlocking the Great Songs Inside You (GIA).

Now Steve and Mark are launching the book where it all started, at the Old Town School, with an evening of storytelling, conversation and performance in Szold Hall. Steve and Mark will share thoughts about songwriting, inspiration and the pursuit of a creative life (hint: anyone can do this), and they and other members of the Old Town School community will perform a great range of songs inspired by the book's songwriting exercises. Steve's band Dolly Varden will be the house musicians and also will play a set of its own. And Steve and Mark will sign - and provide stickers for! - Take It to the Bridge, which will be available at a discounted price to all who attend.
