  • Rajasthan Josh, led and directed by Chugge Khan, is a collective of Manganiyar and Langa musicians from Jaisalmer and surrounding villages in the Thar Desert. Their Rajasthani folk music, with rhythmic, hypnotic and ethereal desert sounds, embraces traditional and contemporary styles and fusions, and is grounded in the traditions of the Manganiyars: artists and musicians who for centuries have traversed Rajasthan. The group has collaborated with a wide range of international artists; Susheela Raman, Prem Joshua, Dub Colossus, Transglobal Underground and many more in both traditional and contemporary styles.

They use instruments like the morchang, bhapang khartaal, double flute, nagara and bamboo flute while incorporating vocal styles ranging from traditions, bhajans and popular folk songs of mystic Sufi Rajasthan. The performance is interspersed with captivating dances like the Chari Dance, Kalbelia Snake charmers dance and Terah Taali.

“They took the crowd by a storm. And without even understanding a word, the audience swayed to the music. That's Chugge Khan's 'Rajasthan Josh' on stage.” - Times of India 2014
