Dive deep into CRDT's revival of “Corner Sketches: A Tribute to Miles Davis” with choreographer Marc Macaranas. “Corner Sketches” is an audience favorite being revived for the first time in 5 years. Join Marc in a discussion about interpreting this legendary music for today, a preview of the work in progress, and an opportunity to be a part of the art.
Marc Macaranas, from Delano, CA, graduated cum laude from the University of California, Irvine and relocated to Chicago, IL in 2005. Since then, he has performed at venues across North America and Europe with Lucky Plush Productions, The Seldoms, DanceWorks Chicago, Luna Negra Dance Theater, Cerqua Rivera Dance Theatre and RubberbanDance Group. Currently, he presents his own solo work as The Visitor(s). His choreography has been seen at Duets for My Valentine, The Open Space Project, Links Hall's THAW, Harvest Chicago Contemporary Dance Festival and Cerqua Rivera Dance Theatre.
This event is part of CRDT Inside/Out 2016 – a seven-month creative and audience engagement journey which culminates in an October fall concert series. You are invited Inside the company and its artistic process while the company gets Out of the studio to share work in progress and to be fueled by Chicagoans all over the city. Cerqua Rivera Dance Theatre is a 17-year old home-grown company that fuses music, dance, and visual art to explore and celebrate contemporary American society. Its professional Dance and Music Ensembles collaborate with one another, with visual artists and designers, and with the people and places of Chicago. The company's multi-disciplinary performance works are theatrical and thoughtful, vivacious and exuberant.
