Transatlantic Music Series

The Transatlantic Music Series is a new collection of concerts and collaborative workshops at the Old Town School of Folk Music and part of a larger grant project supported by the European Union’s “Getting to Know Europe” fund. This series involves three residencies featuring artists from the European Union countries, the Netherlands, France, and Spain, collaborating, performing and creating new music with US and Chicago artists. The residencies include performances, workshops, class visits, and jams and are designed to educate, entertain, and to create new music through these collaborations.

The Mn'JAM Experiment

The Mn'JAM Experiment residency features a collective from Holland with an innovative audio visual project that involves a multi-medium platform to create interactive and improvisational pieces. The group will hold to full day intensives with members of the Old Town School's Teen Collective who will then join the Mn'JAM on stage for a portion of their performance within the World Music Wednesday series on April 10th. There will also be two public workshops for the general public to explore live looping and other techniques in audio visual performance and recording.
