Join the group Rajasthani Caravan after their World Music Wednesday performance for this special folk dance workshop. We will learn three dances, the Tera Tali Dance, the seated devotional dance done with Manjera's (swinging cymbals that are also clapped), the Kalbelia Dance which is fun, lively, folkloric, improvisational and non-technical. It is characterized by rhythmic stomps, hip movements and kicks, ever-changing hand movements, spinning, and dancing with partners. It is a dance for fun and celebration. Many people have seen this dance in the beginning scene of the film Latcho Drom. And the Ghoomar Dance which is a group dance done in a circle often performed at wedding celebrations. Live accompaniment by Ustad Arba Music Group!
