Robert Johnson Guitar Technique

This 75 minute workshop will explore the chord forms and techniques Johnson employed to create his iconic accompaniments in standard tuning as well as dropped-D, and will touch on critical slide guitar techniques. Bring a guitar in standard tuning, a slide that fits snuggly on your little finger, something to write with and on, and a sound recording device, if you have one.

A teacher and performer who gets consistently high marks from his students, Scott transcribed the recordings of Mississippi Delta Blues legend Robert Johnson for his book, “Robert Johnson/At The Crossroads” and has a useful and well-reviewed instruction DVD on Johnson’s music, “Robert Johnson: Signature Licks” available through http://cattailmusic.com. Scott’s fifth solo recording, “Thunder’s Mouth,” received strong reviews from DownBeat, SingOut! and Blues Revue magazines and remained on the Americana Music Top 40 chart for six weeks. "Thunder's Mouth" features a mix of traditional African-American and African-influenced songs and blues along with four of Ainslie’s well-wrought originals.
