Stop by the Old Town School of Folk music for a rare opportunity to participate in a Middle Eastern Rhythms workshop with Tareq Rantisi and Wanees Zarour. Mr. Rantisi, one of the best hand percussionists in the United States, will go over basic and intermediate techniques on instruments such as the darbuka, riq, and frame drums.
This workshop will also provide you with techniques in accompaniment of instrumental and vocal repertoire, and exposure to various rhythms and working with odd meter time signatures. A discussion of developing non traditional sets-ups and working with contemporary/individual works of music and fusion will be included.
