An Introduction to Sync Licensing with What Up Pitches

Have you ever thought about getting YOUR music in ads, TV or film? Did you know that you can receive thousands of dollars by licensing your music while still retaining all rights to your songs? Join Celia Rose on May 21st to learn about sync licensing and have your songs heard by a sync licensing agent from What Up Pitches!

What Up Pitches is a multicultural, women owned music production house and music licensing company based in LA & Chicago, specializing in placing music in ads, TV, and film. The WUP team creates custom music for all media platforms and represents a boutique catalog of indie artists for sync placement. Their recent placements include Hulu, Netflix, Disney+, Paramount+, Fox, NFL, VH1, MTV, The CW, and brands such as Hennessy, Meta, Aetna, Maker’s Mark and Kraft Heinz.

What Up Pitches co-founder, Celia Rose, will be presenting an introductory workshop on sync licensing. Topics to be covered will include: what lyrical themes and production styles work best for sync and how to research the music used in shows or ads to figure out where your music would be a good fit. She will provide insights on how to submit your music to licensing agents and music supervisors so they’ll want to add your music to their catalogs. She'll clarify what metadata is and why is it important, as well as, discussing split sheets and work for hire contracts. Participants will walk away with a wealth of information on writing and submitting music for sync opportunities! All participants will able to submit songs for her to listen to and several will be picked to have their song reviewed during the workshop if they'd like to receive feedback.
