Guitar
An Illinois native, Matt is a high school English teacher by day and a guitar teacher by night. Always an appreciator of the arts, Matt has a background in drama and musical theater, choral music, and a BA in film and video from Columbia College Chicago. He also has a BA and MA in Education and has developed a supportive teaching style throughout his career in education.
Matt is excited and enthusiastic about teaching guitar at the Old Town School of Folk Music. He actually learned how to play guitar by completing the School’s core guitar program. Matt specializes in beginning students who have either never played before or are picking up the guitar again after a long break. By using multiple teaching styles, he helps each student achieve their goals and develop a love for music.
