Corinne Mucha

Children’s Art, Adult Art

Corinne Mucha has been drawing pictures feverishly since she was a child. Her serious love of sketching Hello Kitty has grown into a serious love for comics. In 2005, she graduated with a BFA in Illustration from the Rhode Island School of Design. Since then, Corinne has taught in a variety of settings on both the east coast and in the midwest. In 2006 she completed a year of Americorps service at the Providence Children's Museum, where she led science and art based activities with kids of all ages, including workshops on making art out of trash.

Since moving to Chicago, she has taught comics workshops through 826CHI, Young Chicago Authors, and the Viola Project. She currently teaches comics through Columbia College's Arts Partnership program at the Pulaski International School. Corinne loves sharing her passion for visual storytelling with people of all ages.

Corinne is also the author of two graphic novels, the Xeric award winning "My Alaskan Summer," and "Freshman: Tales of 9th grade Obsessions, Revelations, and Other Nonsense," a fictional comic for young adults published by Zest Books. She is the author of many self published minicomics and a frequent contributor to comics anthologies. Her comic strip etiquette column, "Barnyard Etiquette," appears monthly in the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Corinne likes sweaters with hearts on them, houseplants, chocolate, baking, making huge pots of soup, making up silly songs, small plastic horses, glow in the dark stars, and writing letters. She is frequently guilty of making terrible puns.
