Chicago Folk & Roots Festival 2006
Joe Filisko & Eric Noden
Saturday, July 8th at 2:15pm on the Main Stage

Certainly no strangers to our stage, Old Town School’s favorite sons of the Blues, guitarist Eric Noden and harmonica guru Joe Filisko will while away Saturday afternoon on the main stage with their encyclopedic command of early 1920’s and ‘30’s acoustic blues that they have honed on countless gigs and teaching their respective classes here at the School.

Eric Noden’s masterful playing is well rooted in the blues canon yet it goes way beyond being a mere genre study. We’re talking total blues immersion here!

"As a spiritual heir to Chicago blues guitarists of the '20s and '30s like Tampa Red and Big Bill Broonzy, this multi-talented acoustic artist fills an important niche in the city's mostly plugged-in blues scene." – Illinois Entertainer

Noden’s partner in crime for Folk & Roots is Monday night harmonica class mainstay, Joe Filisko. A recipient of every conceivable harmonica award, Joe’s dedication to the craftsmanship, musicianship and knowledge of the instrument has received praise from the likes of Howard Levy, Kim Wilson, Charlie Musselwhite, to name but a few.
