Chicago Folk & Roots Festival 2006
911 Mambo Orchestra
Sunday, July 9th at 8:00pm on the Main Stage

Mambo Kings of the Midwest. Salsa King. Chicagoan of the Year.

Grammy Nominees!

All this critical praise is heaped upon Chicago’s own Angel Meléndez and his 911 Mambo Orchestra, a group TimeOut Chicago calls "one of a handful of top-flight mambo orchestras in the world today."

911 Mambo Orchestra plays an array of Latin music from the modern tropical sounds of today to the most traditional hard hitting Mambo of the 1950’s. The band plays original arrangements by Angel Meléndez as well as the music of Tito Puente, Eddie Palmieri, Tito Rodriguez, Perez Prado and FANIA.

Be prepared to finish off this year’s Folk & Roots Fest on your feet and dancing with your neighbors to a 21 piece band!

"[911 Mambo Orchestra] clearly ranks among the country's most persuasive performers of bolero, rumba, merengue and other afro-Caribbean musical forms" - Chicago Tribune
