Funkadesi
Sunday, July 10th at 4:45PM on the Main Stage

The musical net Funkadesi casts reaches far and wide. Theirs is the intricate sound of classical East Indian filtered through Hindi film soundtracks, the laid back one-drops of reggae, the slippery rhythms of funk and soul, and the propulsion of undeniably danceable Afro-Caribbean grooves. The band members mirror the multicultural blend of the music with ethnic backgrounds as diverse as the music, including Indian-American, African-American, Jamaican, European-American, and Latino heritages.

Gilbert Rivera of Latin Beat Magazine praises Funkadesi for fusing "diverse musical strains . . . resulting in a total global groove meltdown. The music of Funkadesi is undoubtedly a taste of the sound of the global village of the future without drum machines and synthesizer gimmicks. It's music that's truly spiritual from the soul for the whole world."

At a Funkadesi show, everyone's included and a good time is a sure thing.
