Chicago Folk & Roots Festival 2005
Otis Clay
Saturday, July 9th at 6:30PM on the Main Stage

In a city teeming with rhythm and blues legends, Otis Clay stands out among the big shoulders as Chicago's deep soul King. With one foot in the secular and the other firmly planted in church music, Clay's vocal delivery is always gospel-fueled, gritty, and gruff. As impassioned as Al Green and as smooth as the Staples, Otis Clay has steadily been doing his thing in Chicago since the late 1950's.

The fiery singer currently testifies over a nine-piece horn driven group providing the deepest funky grooves for Mr. Clay to jump off of and dive into. There is nothing retro or neo about Otis Clay's soul music. His is pure, uncut, and from the heart.

Watch as Otis Clay turns Welles Park into soul-drenched revival meeting.
