Billy Bragg - Roots, Radicals & Rockers: How Skiffle Changed the World

Book discussion, signing, and Q&A

4545 N Lincoln Ave · The Myron R. Szold Music & Dance Hall · 773.728.6000

  • Old Town School is proud to present Billy Bragg in an exclusive discussion of his new book Roots, Radicals & Rockers: How Skiffle Changed the World. Bragg discusses the history, legacy and impact of skiffle, followed by a Q&A. Billy will also sign copies of the book, which will be available for purchase at the event.

Roots, Radicals & Rockers is the first book to explore the Skiffle phenomenon in depth — Billy Bragg's meticulously researched and joyous account shows how Skiffle sparked a revolution that shaped pop music as we have come to know it.

Please note that this event will not include a musical performance but a unique oral presentation by one of folk music's great storytellers.

Billy Bragg is an English singer-songwriter and left-wing activist. His music blends elements of folk music, punk rock and protest songs, with lyrics that mostly span political or romantic themes. Billy's music is heavily centered on bringing about change and getting the younger generation involved in activist causes.
