4545 N Lincoln Ave · The Myron R. Szold Music & Dance Hall · 773.728.6000
Join us for a free concert featuring three fantastic bands! The dance floor (and bar) will be open all night. Come for one band or stay for all three!
Fiery, political (and sometimes playful), Riot Grrl music rose to prominence in the early '90s when bands like Bikini Kill, Huggy Bear, L7 and Sleater Kinney rescripted the DIY punk message to speak out about feminist issues and say “Girls to the Front”. Riot Grrl Ensemble is led by Old Town School teaching artist Shelley Miller.
Ellington, Basie, Miller, Goodman, and Rich! All the swing heavies get swung courtesy of the hepcats in this ensemble led by Jack Cassidy. Chelsea Dvorchak will teach a basic swing dance class to get everyone up and jumping. The Cotton Club comes to Lincoln Square!
The Disco Ensemble, led by Old Town School teaching artist John Mead, traces the history of disco from Philly Soul and the Ohio Players through Chic and the Bee Gees to Cameo and Madonna. Wear your best leisure suit or disco duds and get out on the floor to let the whole world know how deep is your love!
