“An artist's duty, as far as I'm concerned, is to reflect the times.” - Nina Simone
Nina Simone was a singer, songwriter and activist who called out the truths of her time. In our Uncovered Series, Old Town School faculty and staff will honor Ms. Simone through music and dance and reflect on what's happening in our world today. With Election Day around the corner, this show will be both entertaining and timely.

Folks of all singing levels are welcome to come together and experience the joy of harmony singing - to the rich music of Nina Simone! We'll start with some vocal warmups and harmony singing exercises. Then, we'll all learn a couple of tunes that reflect the times arranged for vocal harmony!
Join K-Love The Poet, one of Old Town School's newest teaching artists to explore self-expression and reflection through spoken word. She will lead the group in writing exercises and demonstrate delivery techniques.
Strum and sing some classic tunes that Nina wrote or performed with dynamic Old Town School teaching artist, Shelley Miller.
Participants will engage in a warm-up, learn movement principles and exercises and culminate with choreography set to Nina Simone's "Feeling Good." The activity will be lead by Kim Davis, Old Town School's Dance and Movement program manager.
