Jim Kweskin / Geoff Muldaur

4545 N Lincoln Ave · The Myron R. Szold Music & Dance Hall · 773.728.6000

  • Folk legend, leader, and namesake of the Jim Kweskin Jug Band and his equally legendary, longtime musical partner, Geoff Muldaur, revisit and expand upon their Jug Band repertoire.

    Jim Kweskin

Jim Kweskin and the Jug Band was the original “Americana” band, playing everything from classic blues to hillbilly country, ragtime, jazz, and rock 'n' roll. They perfectly captured the 1960s mix of exuberant anarchy and heartfelt sincerity - one of the many other jug bands they inspired evolved into the Grateful Dead - but no other group attained their unique blend of youthful energy and antiquarian expertise, tight musicianship, loose camaraderie, and infectious swing.

    Geoff Muldaur

Geoff Muldaur is one of the great voices and musical forces to emerge from the folk, blues and folk-rock scenes centered in Cambridge, MA and Woodstock, NY. During the 1960's and ‘70's, Geoff made a series of highly influential recordings as a founding member of the Jim Kweskin Jug Band and the Paul Butterfield's Better Days group, as well as collaborations with then-wife Maria and other notables (Bonnie Raitt, Eric Von Schmidt, Jerry Garcia, etc.).

“There are only three white blues singers, and Geoff Muldaur is at least two of them.” - Richard Thompson
