A Quiet Evening with Yo La Tengo

4544 N Lincoln Ave · Gary and Laura Maurer Concert Hall · 773.728.6000

  • Join us for a very special evening with the critically acclaimed trio from Hoboken as they perform songs from their extensive and unique catalog on the Old Town School stage for two shows that are not to be missed.

Yo La Tengo is one of the most beloved and respected bands in America. Their uninterrupted 30-years-and-counting career is unparalleled in its creative breadth and refusal to rest on laurels. Ira Kaplan, Georgia Hubley and James McNew have enjoyed success entirely on their own terms – playing the world's best concert halls, museums, and dives, collaborating with everyone from Homer Simpson to Ray Davies, from Chris Elliott to Yoko Ono, portraying the Velvet Underground in I Shot Andy Warhol and composing scores for Adventureland and the films of Jean Painlevé, and even creating a holiday tradition unto themselves with their series of Hanukkah shows at Hoboken, New Jersey's legendary club Maxwell's, from which they've donated hundreds of thousands to charity.

“Rare is the band that can cover themselves. Rarer is the band that would even think of it and rarer still is a band that would return to the conception and re-imagine its first breakthrough record. Someone may have read recently that old quote about how "in not knowing history one is doomed to repeat it." There's not another band that I know that is less doomed than Yo La Tengo.” – Kurt Wagner, Lambchop

“Guitar-driven songs about the compromise and joy of daily life." – The New York Times
