The Cook County Revelers began playing for barn dances in 1989, when new Chicagoan, Paul Tyler, joined forces with Fred Campeau and Steve Rosen, erstwhile members of the Volo Bogtrotters, the Chicago area's top old-time string band. Just a few years later, Tyler joined the Bogtrotters. The trio presents a stripped down version of the Bogtrotter wall of sound. Campeau's driving banjo and Rosen's creatively throbbing guitar are the perfect complement for Tyler's distinctive mix of traditional Midwestern fiddle tunes.
Square dance caller Tamara Loewenthal is one half of Fiddle 'n' Feet, a traditional music and percussive dance duo based in Bloomington, Indiana. A long-time square dancer and caller, Loewenthal was a founding member of Rhythm 'n' Shoes, a dance troupe that began as the Shuffle Creek Cloggers back in 1979.
