The Chicago Jug Band Summit is right around the corner! Bands will bring their acoustic rhythm and energy to the Old Town School from as close as Andersonville and Logan Square, and as far as Michigan.
What is the Jug Band Summit? Well, if you missed the last three years of the Chicago Battle of the Jug Bands, you can now hear all three winners in one place on one night with performances by The Deep Fried Pickle Project, Strictly Jug Nuts, and Mr. Mayor and the Highballers.
The jug bands will be festooned with armored washboards, raspy kazoos, heavy strung washtub basses, hefty jugs, and supported by multi-stringed infantry for a unifying performance at the Old Town School of Folk Music.
Bands will come loaded with potent music: traditional and non-traditional songs sent forward from the jug band, blues, rock, and other harmonic supply lines. While friendship and cordiality will reign, the bands will undoubtedly be looking ahead, preparing for the 2015 face off in October.
