Sammy Figueroa is considered one of the world's greatest percussionists - one of very few that is equally versed in a multitude of styles from R&B to rock to pop to bebop to Latin to Brazilian to New Age. Born in the Bronx, New York, to one of Puerto Rico's foremost musical families, Sammy recorded and toured with the likes of Miles Davis, the Brecker Brothers, Sonny Rollins, Michel Camilo, Chaka Khan, David Bowie and Mariah Carey before embarking on a solo career with his Latin Jazz Explosion that quickly earned him two Grammy nominations on his first two albums. Join us for the kickoff gig for the record release tour of his third album Urban Nature.
