Multi-instrumentalist and composer, Arto Järvelä is one of Finland's most accomplished folk musicians and a third generation fiddler in the Kaustinen tradition. He has represented Finnish music and culture in more than 30 countries and returns to the Old Town School after a successful residency in 2009.

Making their debut at the Old Town School, Kaivama is a new folk duo featuring Finnish-American multi-instrumentalists Sara Pajunen and Jonathan Rundman. Sara and Jonathan were born and raised in Finnish-immigrant epicenters not far from Lake Superior and their music is drawn from the traditional "pelimanni" fiddle-tune repertoire of Western Finland, Nordic hymnody and the aggressive prog-folk attitude of contemporary Scandinavian roots music.

Mary Allsopp & Tim Anderson will give a Scandinavian music workshop in the Thursday Workshop Series.
