Laura Rebolloso is a 21st century poet and troubadour rooted in the 400-year-old son jarocho tradition from Veracruz, Mexico. She was a founding member of the band Son de Madera, and she is fronting her own group featuring musicians who represent a variety of musical influences from rock to jazz to classical and hip hop. Rebolloso's poetry and lyricism define the group's sound, accompanied by acoustic piano, bass, percussion and violin. She lends her stirring voice, virtuosic leona playing, and poly-rhythmic zapateado, constantly taking the music in surprising new directions. Her expressiveness and charisma, combined with carefully-crafted songwriting and a healthy dose of improvisation make for an unforgettable performance experience.

The artists will give a son jarocho workshop in the Thursday Workshop Series.
