Led by harpist Carlos Rojas and based in Colombia, Cimarrón have been experimenting with the music of their homeland, joropo llanero, for the past two decades in search for new musical horizons whilst staying true to their roots. Joropo is a fast traditional rhythm played on harp, bandola and cuatro accompanied by bass, cajón and maracas. Cimarrón fire up their brand of joropo with flawless virtuosity and a heart-stopping sense of drama.
Los Guitarristas is a Chicago-based guitar quartet under the direction of Maestro Alfonso Chacon. A Los Guitarristas performance is a living history lesson of the melodic and rhythmic roots of Latin Music, and an awesome demonstration of the full breadth of expression of the guitar.
