The Old Town School, with assistance from the Mayor's Office of Special Events, celebrates one of Chicago's true blues legends in anticipation of the Chicago Blues Festival, June 11th-13th. Drummer and vocalist Sam Lay is one of the most prominent blues musicians alive today. A Grammy nominee and member of the Blues Hall of Fame, Sam Lay has been a fixture in the blues scene since the 1950s, featured on more than 40 recordings by the famed Chess Records label. Sam has performed with everyone from Little Walter, Willie Dixon, Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters and Bob Dylan. Sam will be joined on stage in the second half of the show by special guests Rollo radford and Corky Siegel.
Corky Siegel will give a workshop as part of the Thursday Workshop Series.
