Widely regarded as one of the most brilliant songwriters of her generation, Suzanne Vega emerged as a leading figure of the folk-music revival of the early 1980s in Greenwich Village. Since her debut 25 years ago, she has sold over 7 million albums and has been nominated for 7 Grammy awards and is best known for her songs "Luka" and "Tom's Diner". Vega sings in a distinctive, clear vibrato-less voice that has been described as "a cool, dry sandpaper- brushed near-whisper" and as "plaintive but disarmingly powerful." Suzanne Vega is an artist that continues to surprise. Currently Suzanne is reinterpreting and rerecording the majority of her catalog in an intimate and personal manner, creating 4 new thematic albums that will be released over the course of 2010-2011.
