Gabriel Alegria is Peru's paramount jazz artist with several groundbreaking recordings that have firmly established this unique Afro-Peruvian jazz genre. Gabriel is currently the Associate Director of Jazz Studies at New York University and holds a doctorate degree in Jazz studies from the University of Southern California. In all of Gabriel's music, the rich legacy of the black music of coastal Peru can be heard in the context of contemporary jazz expression. The band is an all-star cast of Afro-Peruvian and Jazz artists that have helped define this unique genre.
