Sekou Conde and Sénéké are products of Chicago's thriving West African drumming and dance community. Master drummer Sekou Conde, a descendant of the Malinke people of West Africa, began his professional career with the Muntu Dance Company and went on to perform and teach extensively throughout the U.S. and the world. He formed Sénéké (or "cultivation") in Chicago in 2005 to teach and perform West African music, song and dance and has three acclaimed recordings on the market.
