At the heart of music is rhythm. Get the beat!

The Old Town School's percussion classes are a natural way for kids to make music and deepen their own musicality. Each week, children are exposed to new types of instruments from around the world, including djembe drums from West Africa, congas and bongos from Latin America, and the bodhrán from Ireland.

Sharing and listening are emphasized as well as a basic understanding of various rhythm patterns. Students are also introduced to individual and group music making, as they explore terminology such as solo, ensemble, and tempo.

No experience is necessary to participate!
