Multi-instrumentalist Jason McInnes is a veteran performer and educator based in Chicago. Jason uses his guitar and banjo, as well as found objects and body percussion, to support his reinterpretation of folk traditions. He is on a constant search for new ways to connect to music itself, and to strike up new friendships through music. He is equally influenced by the works of artists as varied as Woody Guthrie and Derek Bailey, two artists who worked within musical communities as they explored the power of sound. Jason loves the songs and stories that are powerful, yet tender; unique, yet old as time. In 2015, Jason was named a Distinguished Teaching Artist at Old Town School of Folk Music.
