Join the world renowned group, Son de Madera, direct from Veracruz, Mexico for this special workshop in Son Jarocho music. This workshop will focus on the methods and melodies associated with the guitarra de son or requinto.
Son Jarocho is a style of traditional music from Veracruz, that’s as old as Mexico itself. It’s unique sound was birthed from the fusion of indigenous, African and Spanish musical traditions present there. Son de Madera exemplifies excellence in traditional son jarocho and incorporates new sounds and stylistic perspectives.
You don’t have to have a guitarra de son to participate. Mandolin, violin, guitar and stringed instruments in general are fine!
The workshop will be followed by a short fandanguito, or group jam.
