Participants will explore why his melodies matter. Hear Burns' original tunes and explore his brilliant method of matching his imagery to melodic turns. We'll examine several famous Burns' songs which are commonly sung to alternate, and demonstrably inferior, melodies: “Silver Tassie,” “Now Westlin’ Winds,” “My Heart’s in the Highlands,” “Auld Lang Syne,,” “Flow Gently, Sweet Afton,” “Willie Brewed a Peck o Maut” and “A Rosebud by my Early Walk.”
