In the earliest days of American guitar music a number of alternative tunings were used in conjunction with what we now consider standard. Open tunings were used extensively in parlor music, and jumped from there to folk, the earliest country and blues players, the Rolling Stones, and even to as far as Hawaiian Slack Key guitar. You'll learn the fundamentals of this fascinating approach to guitar, and the song that popularized the tuning across multiple genres. This is the first in a series of workshops on open tunings with Nathaniel Braddock.
