Workshop of Popular Dances from Tabasco, Mexico

Professor Andrés Antonio Hernández Garfias-Director of the Ballet Folklorico

de la UJAT and members of the company will teach participants basic

movements and zapateado (foot tapping) patterns for a variety of dances

from Tabasco, Mexico including Ballroom, Enramada, Toldos, and Convites.

Participants will learn how to integrate these movements of dances as

couples and individually.

Participants should bring foot-tapping shoes for the zapateado and/or

Ballroom dancing shoes.

The workshop is open to students 12 yrs and older and to all levels from beginners to advanced.

This workshop is part of a 5-day residency with the artist presented in partnership with the National Museum of Mexican Art and funded through a

grant with the Chicago Community Trust.
