This class will explore the roots of the New York art/punk scene of the early to mid-70s: Patti Smith, Television, Blondie, Talking Heads, etc, with an occasional side trip into the roots of the scene—the Velvet Underground—and related scenes like the weird clique of bands related to Cleveland’s Rocket from the Tombs.
