Join Paddy Cassidy of Tani Diakite and the Afrofunkstars (see World Music Wednesday 4/3/13) for this workshop. Participants will learn a rhythm from the Malinke djembe repertoire. Instruction covers the djembe accompaniment parts, dunun patterns, bell patterns, and a song. Instructor Paddy Cassidy specializes in Malian-style djembe and dunun, with a focus on fundamentals, phrasing, and micro-timing. This workshop is open to all levels, and experienced students will be presented with a new challenge. Students are encouraged to bring their djembes or other drums.
