Remove the Pain from Your Fiddling!

Do you get a twinge in your shoulder when you start to play “Soldier's Joy?” Does the very thought of fiddling “Whiskey Before Breakfast” cause your fingers to spasm? Do you hold your breath while you play? Have you always wanted to try a different shoulder or chin rest? Or only heard of such things and wondered what the fuss is all about? If so, this workshop is for you.

Our focus will be on stabilizing the instrument to fit our bodies, tailoring a tension- and pain-free posture unique to each participant, and in generating targeted exercises to eliminate stress while playing. We will discuss what makes for a strong and consistent tone, and the ergonomics of playing well and for extended periods of time.

Fiddlers (and violinists) of all skill levels are welcome, and time will be devoted to addressing the concerns of each person in attendance.
