Art is: Meditation, time to clear my mind
I teach art because: I am always inspired by my students, kids and adults alike!
My first memory of making art is: drawing a really great likeness of my 'Earth' shoe in the early '70s
The things that have been inspiring me lately are: the tenacity in nature; a tree root growing out of cement, the burls left on bark, the marks of water flowing.
My favorite room in my house/apartment is: My studio!
Colors that I am really into right now: Black and white, taking away the color experience makes it impossible not to think about form, contrast and movement. I have been experimenting with a range of blues.
The shape I love most is: the spiral.
I really love to make: good food to eat!

Art is:The same as food and water and breath to me
I teach art because: I love seeing others connect with their own artmaking.
My first memory of making art is: making decorations for Thanksgiving out of construction paper. I was 4 years old and in nursery school.
The things that have been inspiring me lately are: playing tag with my son and his friends, skull and skeleton images, ballerina images, the music of Lila Downs, cooking for my family, the way autumn trees look against the blue grey sky, conversations about food, Women Who Run with the Wolves, the Tao Te Ching, trees, and birds
My favorite room in my house/apartment is: the front room decorated in the style of clutter, featuring: stacks of papers to be sorted, half-full mugs of coffee, books to be read or returned to the library, board games to finish and lose, photos to hang up, and artwork calling my name.
Colors that I am really into right now: are pale sky blue and bubblegum Barbie pink.
The shape I love most is: The shape of a wine glass
I really love to make: A big pot of soup or stew
- Sarah Dandelles

Art is: A fascinating conversation.
I teach art because: I love the process! And the connections people make when engaged in creating.
My first memory of making art is: getting in trouble for drawing all over the walls.
The things that have been inspiring me lately are: films, moving through city life at various speeds, kids, and the natural world.
My favorite room in my house/apartment is: the kitchen, where the best conversations happen.
Colors that I am really into right now: all the blues, and red.
The shape I love most is: currently - the shape of pomegranates.
I really love to make: papier maché.
