We celebrate the 55th anniversary of the Old Town School with a 55-day Grand Opening Festival that draws on our amazing, rich heritage - and propels us into the future. "We thought we were getting a music school," reminisced Studs Terkel about the founding of Old Town. "What we got was a world-renowned cultural institution." His words feel prophetic as we open the doors of a facility that was crafted in every detail to declare the vitality of our national musical heritage.
We're proud of our achievement on Lincoln Avenue, and invite you to join the party! Our School succeeds through the passion and dedication of thousands of people who have made music, friendships, and community here for 55 years. The riotous cacophony that leaps from this schedule of events is a tribute to them, and to what we've built together, step by step, stanza by stanza, here in Chicago.
Won't you join us? It's been a great ride, and it's getting better all the time.
